Police activity closes S. Havana St. and S. Parker Rd. for 2 hours 09/09/14

09/09/14 Aurora, CO – Breaking News: A large police presence closed the intersection of S. Havana St. and S. Parker Rd. for two hours from about 5:30PM until 7:30PM this evening.  Police officers were also posted at neighboring intersections including Iliff and Havana.  It was obvious to this reporter that a car accident had occurred at Havana and Parker, but what was unclear to me was why so many cops were in the area.  When asked, one first-responder at the scene told me there had been an initial accident with a secondary carjacking attempt at the same scene.  This info is unconfirmed at this point but it might help to explain why so many cops were in the area.  This incident involved both Aurora and Denver cops as well as other first responders.  We will provide more information about this event when and if it becomes available. If you drove past this scene feel free to comment on this site about what you witnessed there this evening.  Shane Anthony reporting AuroraNews1.com

I was at the intersection right after the accident occurred and saw a man trying to stop and get into several cars apparently trying to get away. He aimlessly walked though the oncoming traffic yelling obscenities and stopping traffic. He had no shoes and seemed mad, upset,in shock or on drugs. A man on the curb trice to calm him down and get him to sit but that aggravated him. I watched until he was handcuffed.
