Auto theft suspect escapes from cops in high-speed car chase 12/09/14

12/09/14 Aurora, CO – A man wanted in connection with auto-theft by an Aurora PD Task Force force lead the cops on a high-speed car chase, bashing several unmarked police cars and almost running over an officer who was out on foot as cops tried to box the suspect in. The dramatic incident started after 10PM outside of a Diamond Shamrock gas station located at E. 38th Ave. and N. Chambers Rd.  The suspect who was driving a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV slammed 4 or 5 cop cars, almost struck an officer on foot then sped south on Chambers Rd. at a high rate of speed with the cops giving chase.  Police lost sight of the suspect’s car in the vicinity of N. Chambers and E. Montview Blvd.  When this reporter arrived on scene at the gas station just moments after the chase I observed numerous unmarked police officers and their damaged cars.  The cop car damage ranged from minor to moderate.  Undercover cops were swarming the scene.  APD traffic cops photographed the damaged police cars and took reports.  Luckily, nobody was seriously injured in the chase. As of this writing the suspect remains at large.  AuroraNews1.com chose not take pictures of the undercover officers or their damaged cars in order to protect the safety of the officers.  Shane Anthony reporting AuroraNews1.com
