Barricaded Gunman tries to kill cops, holds up in Greenwood Village house 06/03/15

06/03/15 Aurora, CO / Greenwood Village, CO – 10:10 PM BREAKING NEWS – EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS:  A wild crime scene that started in Southwest Aurora this afternoon spilled into a sleepy residential neighborhood in Greenwood Village today and has turned into a lengthy SWAT standoff for multiple police agencies.  The crime-spree began early this afternoon when a shoplifting suspect at the the Walmart located at E. Hampden Ave. and S. Dayton St. tried to run over an Aurora Police officer with a car while fleeing the Walmart parking lot.  The suspect then dumped his car at a RTD Light Rail station right down the street and fled on foot.  Aurora, Denver, Arapahoe County, Greenwood Village and Cherry Hills cops poured into the vicinity of I-225 and S. Yosemite St. while searching for the suspect who according to the police scanners was armed with a handgun in his waistband and out on foot somewhere along the busy interstate highway.  A short time later (around 2PM) police responded to a residential burglar or intrusion alarm at a residence located in the the 4200 block of S. Alton St. on the Greenwood Village side of I-225.  As the cops were assessing that scene at least one shot was fired from inside the garage of that home toward police.  What ensued is a huge police stand-off which is now in its 8th hour as of this writing.  According to the police scanner a 9 year old boy was in the house which was broken into by the bad guy, but thankfully that child was able to escape the house uninjured as the armed and desparate gunman ran through the house.  The standoff has seen countless tactical cops of every type, armored police vehicles, bomb-squad technicians and negotiators all this afternoon and into this evening.  As of this writing police have breached the doors to the house with explosives, inserted tear gas and have the house surrounded with personnel and heavy tactical equipment.  Below are EXCLUSIVE  photos taken by AuroraNews1.com of the intense standoff scene today.  We will continue to update our readers as this situation unfolds this evening.  Shane Anthony reporting AuroraNews1.com / ColoradoNews1.com
